Arkel International Awarded Contract from U.S. Department of State
Baton Rouge, LA, Oct. 19. 2011 -- Today, Arkel International, LLC, announced that it has been awarded a Design-Build Services contract of $28.7 million from the U.S. Department of State's Office of Acquisition Management. Arkel International will provide design and construction services and contract coordination and supervision for the facilities necessary to establish Life Support and Services for Camp Prosperity in Bagdad, Iraq. Reconfiguration of the site is currently being executed by the Department of State as a result of the U.S. troop withdrawal and the need for the U.S. Embassy to provide additional housing and support services. Arkel International was selected as the Prime Contractor based on a competitively bid process where it submitted the technically acceptable low bid.
"After eight years of working with the U.S. Government, Arkel International and its employees are proud to continue to support our troops and civilians in their overseas missions," said George H. Knost, president of Arkel International.
Arkel International is an infrastructure and essential services contractor to government agencies, the US military and major industrial corporations. The Company's origins date back to the mid-1950's when it began to provide a variety of services to the major petrochemical and refinery facilities that were being built in the Gulf Coast. In the 1970's, it undertook its initial international assignment for the creation of one of the world's largest sugar factories in Africa, and now has a nearly 50 year history of working in some the world's most remote and austere locations. The Company is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with offices in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kenya, Sudan, and Congo.
Jindal’s Former Commissioner of Administration, Angele Davis, to Join Arkel International
Baton Rouge, LA - July 28, 2010 - Angele Davis will join Arkel International as Vice President of Strategic Programs in early August where she will be responsible for identifying and evaluating strategic acquisitions and business partnerships and alliances, business development strategies and capitalization, and overseeing strategic planning.
Davis has served as Commissioner of Administration for the Jindal administration since January 2008, and recently announced that she would be leaving in early August to pursue opportunities in the private sector.
"The addition of Angele Davis significantly strengthens the Arkel team," said John Moore, CEO of Arkel International, "and we look forward to what Angele brings to us with her admirable record in the public and private sector."
