CamoCafe Fallujah
Arkel's innovative AIRMAQTM modular buildings were selected as the housing & offices solution for its client's team at Camp Fallujah (IRAQ). Arkel's client (under authority of the U.S. Marine Corps), was tasked with establishing and operating an internet-café / coffee-shop as well as providing a WiFi network to cover the entire base. This café provides the 11,000+ troops stationed at Camp Fallujah an "oasis in the desert" - respite from their endless patrols and combat action. Moreover, service members can use the café's PCs or utilize their personal laptops throughout Camp Fallujah to access broadband services such as e-mails, sending photos, Internet surfing, etc.
The ability to maintain contact with family and friends while deployed to a combat zone improves morale. Consequently, this project was a priority for the Base Command, requiring rapid response, mobilization, and implementation.
Arkel's AIRMAQTM units proved to be the ideal solution. The unique design allowed for swift, efficient loading / packing, transportation, installation, and upkeep.
The Fallujah Camo Café project consisted of a turnkey design/build self-supporting man camp and coffee café with internet access and media room. Construction was completed in 8 weeks.
The Fallujah Camo Café is an internet café with 40 computers, and wireless internet to go along with a hot cup of coffee. At peak hours, averages of 400-450 users are online.
This Café consists of a 4km x 2km base with 24-hr internet access supplied by wireless connection throughout 6 L-3 AIRMAQ units, and 2 L2-2 living quarter units complete with separate laundry facilities and kitchen to support operations and staff personnel.
